An accomplished musician and dedicated teacher, Tom Hess has been playing the guitar since 1986. He was inspired early on by the music of Def Leppard, Van Halen, and Metallica. Later influences included Jason Becker, Dream Theater, and George Bellas, whose work encouraged him to become a master guitarist and composer. In pursuit of this goal, Tom Hess attended Harper College in Palatine, Illinois, and earned an Associate’s degree in Music Theory. He then went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition. Hess toured the world as a member of HolyHell and now is recording and touring with the band Rhapsody of Fire, which has sold more than 1.5 million albums.

When he is not touring, Tom Hess manages Tom Hess Music Corporation, based in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. The company offers online guitar lessons to all students, though they are designed for students with preexisting skills who want to improve. He offers results-driven guitar lessons that allow students to play the guitar the way they have always wanted to play. They benefit from expert feedback, personalized attention, and professional guidance. Unlike other teachers, Hess does not use a standard set of lessons—he customizes his lessons based on the needs of each student.

In addition to guitar lessons, Tom Hess provides a mentorship program to players of all kinds interested in developing a career in music. To learn more about the mentorship program, visit
